Heads of School Conference
Our annual Heads of School Conference took place on Friday 20th September. Aidan O’D (Upper Sixth) writes the below report:
On Friday the 20th of September, our School hosted a national Heads of School Conference made up of our Prefect team and Heads of School, as well as students in similar positions from various other schools around the country. Our day was split into five main insightful sessions consisting of talks on problem solving and how to successfully chair a meeting led by Mr Ashton and Mr Dine, a public speaking workshop led by Mr Todres, team building activities led by members of our Outdoor Learning Department and lastly a talk from a world specialist in leadership consultancy whose job it is to advise some of the world’s top businesses on how to lead effectively.
I personally took many things away from the day such as some beneficial – but often not thought of – ways in which teams must work in order to successfully run productively and efficiently, some of the science behind the way our brains work when put in positions of authority and how to use that to our advantage and most of all, I developed a newfound gratitude for how admirable and well suited our very own Prefect team really is.
I feel both honoured and privileged to have been chosen to help represent our School at such a high profile and important conference and envy those who will also get to take part next year as I have no doubt they will take everything I did and more.
