Michael Collins visit
We had the privilege of welcoming international superstar clarinettist Michael Collins to Wells, who worked with our pupils and staff on Mozart.
He gave masterclasses on Mozart’s chamber music, clarinet lessons to our senior clarinettist and a GMA and then worked with our chamber orchestra on how to perform the Clarinet Concerto without a conductor. The culmination of a fabulous few days was a performance of the Clarinet Concerto, and our pupils were brilliant! There was a terrific team spirit and an obvious trust between Michael and the orchestra. After the interval, Michael performed Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet with Mr Smith, Mr Salter, Mr Laing and Ms Driver. A large and appreciative audience enjoyed it all. It was a very impressive evening.
