Announcement of new Director of Development and Head of Foundation
Wells Cathedral School is delighted to announce the appointment of a new Director of Development and Head of Foundation. Jess Newman will join us after Easter and will bring a wealth of experience as well as great drive and passion to this important community engagement and fundraising role within the School.
Jess is currently Director of Development at Downside School. She will be joining Wells Cathedral School as the next step in her career, having already built a strong track record of delivery in the education sector. At her previous School she has consistently exceeded fundraising targets through successfully building enduring campaigns, delivering fundraising events and soliciting significant donations from individual donors.
Engaging a broad network of potential donors in the wider community as well as nurturing alumni and other friends of a school is key to her approach, with an emphasis on building strong relationships.
Jess’s background in healthcare management and delivering business change programmes has equipped her with practical skills in planning and delivery, budget control, implementing IT systems and optimising data usage and management. She is experienced in leading and developing teams and working in collaboration across departments.
Jess is inspired by her new challenge of transforming relationships and fundraising at Wells Cathedral School and is looking forward to meeting the School community and Foundation team.

At a time when seeking support from alumni and friends of the School has never been more important, I’m thrilled that our appointment of Jess signals our firm commitment to this aspect of our work as a School.
