Pre-Prep’s WWF winter wander

The children in Pre-Prep embarked on a four week mission to walk over 10km in order to raise money for the World Wildlife Fund Winter Wander. Not only did they walk about 15km over the last few weeks, but they have raised nearly £350 for a cause that is very important to them.

After an initial interest in wildlife during outdoor education sessions (where the children have been very interested in birdwatching), Mrs Perdrix and her team decided to extend this by giving the children an opportunity to raise money towards this interest. Their walks have included adventures to Stockhill Woods, Tor Woods, the Wells recreation ground and the Bishop’s Palace moat (where they have seen the kingfishers a few times!). Everyone has really enjoyed watching nature blossom over the last four weeks at all of these locations and the children have engaged in scavenger hunts, tree climbing, den building and made journey sticks and nature crowns.

The Pre-Prep are so thrilled with the support from our amazing parental body in the efforts to strengthen the children’s connection with, and appreciation of, nature. It is so important to instil a sense of awe and wonder of the natural world; these children are our future and they are the ones who will be protecting our world.
