Paris trip WCS Wells Cathedral School Independent Prep Somerset England

Paris trip

Departing on the final day of the Epiphany Term, 36 pupils from Years 8 to the Upper Sixth started their half Term in Paris.

On the first day of their visit, they visited the Musée d’Art Moderne, then walked from the Arc de Triomphe to the Champs-Élysées and Place de la Concorde famed for its Obelix column, thé Jardin des Tuileries and the spectacular Musée du Louvre, and along the Seine to the Notre-Dame – returning to their hotel with a step count of over 23,000! Their second day began at the Cité des Sciences et de l’industrie, where pupils were able to explore topics such as space, maths, sounds, dance and climate change, before heading to the Palace of Versailles, famed for its Hall of Mirrors and gardens, and finished their day by bowling near the hotel. On the third day they enjoyed a cruise along the Seine, magnificent views of the Eiffel Tower from the Trocadéro, shopping for souvenirs (and crêpes) in Montmartre, and the Basilique du Sacré Coeur. Before returning home on Tuesday 18th February, they headed to Montparnasse, a 210m high tower with magnificent views over Paris, before finishing their trip at the Musée de la Libération, a museum about the Second World War in France.

Our sincere thanks to Director of Languages Ms Desmarchelier and Mr and Mrs Rowley for facilitating the trip.
