Olympian OW returns to Wells 2025 WCS Cathedral School Independent Prep Somerset England

Olympian OW returns to Wells

We had the incredible privilege of welcoming back OW Annie Campbell-Orde (2012) who recently earned a Bronze medal in the Women’s Eight Rowing event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

It was an inspiring day for our pupils, from the Prep to the top of the Senior School, as they had the opportunity to engage with Annie through a range of activities. After a brilliant speech about her sporting journey in our morning Cathedral Service, both Year 6 and Year 9 were involved in fitness sessions ending in competitive land rowing relays. At lunchtime our Sports Scholars got the opportunity to ask Annie about her triumphs and gained an insight into the daily routine of an Olympian. It was wonderful to see our pupils so engaged and hope Annie’s story has inspired them to aim for their own future sporting success; she is a wonderful example of our School motto Esto Quod Es; Be What You Are, Become The Best You Can Be!

We are very grateful to Annie for giving up her time and hope to welcome her back again soon.
