Percussionist Iris van den Bos coming to Wells next month
We are delighted to be welcoming Dutch percussionist, Iris van den Bos, to Wells in October. Going forward, Iris will be delivering four masterclass visits per year.
She is a member of the Colin Currie Group and since 2020 has been playing with the Budapest Festival Orchestra where she plays under the baton of Iván Fischer. A recent appearance included performing Mahler’s Symphony No.2 and No.5 at the prestigious Mahler Festival at Het Concertgebouw Amsterdam. She freelances regularly as a timpanist and percussionist with orchestras such as the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, Royal Birmingham Ballet and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. Iris plays frequently in some of the world’s leading concert venues including Het Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and the Royal Albert Hall. She was a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra from 2018 -2021 whilst studying at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire for her Masters and Advanced Postgraduate Diploma (APD) This after obtaining her Bachelors at the Royal Conservatoire of the Hague. She also had the pleasure of doing an Erasmus Exchange at the Royal College of Music in London.
