Year 8’s trip to Malory Towers
Year 8 enjoyed a wonderful trip to see Malory Towers, adapted and directed by wonderful Emma Rice. The production was a vibrant, imaginative, and joy-filled celebration of storytelling and theatre-making.
From the moment the performance began, the energy and creativity of the cast captivated the audience. Through inventive staging, live music, dynamic ensemble work, playful theatricality, and beautifully integrated technical elements and projection, the world of Malory Towers was brought vividly to life. Balancing humour and warmth with themes of friendship, courage, and growing independence, the production explored experiences and emotions that felt deeply relevant to our pupils, while also offering valuable inspiration for their own developing theatre-making skills.
A real highlight of the evening was discovering that Emma Rice herself was seated just in front of the group, giving Ms Deans the opportunity to express her gratitude for the enormous influence of Rice’s work, through both Kneehigh and Wise Children, on the theatre work explored in GCSE and A level lessons as well as the many Knee High productions we have watched over the years.
Year 8 were absolutely brilliant throughout the evening and a real credit to the School. It was especially lovely to hear a member of the public comment on how polite, engaged and well behaved they were, something we are always proud to hear. It was a wonderful and memorable trip, and we already look forward to the next one! Well done Year 8!
