Life of Pi

On Wednesday 17th January Year 8 pupils travelled to Bristol Hippodrome to watch the stage production of Life of Pi adapted by Lolita Chakrabarti and based on Yann Martel’s Man Booker Prize-winning novel.

Pupils were mesmerised by the exquisitely designed large-scale puppets, especially Richard Parker the breathtaking Bengal tiger, as well as the many vividly drawn characters and dazzling visual effects.

One pupil commented; “I just wanted to say thank you very much for organising and giving us the opportunity to go and see Life of Pi, I really enjoyed it and I think many others did as well! I would love to do something like this again.”

It was a truly magical and life-affirming experience that has given them plenty of inspiration to channel into their storytelling and performance.

Cedars Hall will be filled with the scent of love when pupils in Years 7-9 present a double bill of love through the lens of comedy and tragedy in March. Two of Shakespeare’s timely tales: Romeo & Juliet and As You Like It are reimagined through a delicately woven tapestry of text, contemporary dance and live music, harnessing the raw emotion, joy, and humanity of these beloved plays. Tickets are now on sale!
