Prep School take over Lunchtime Concert series with poise, passion and performance

The Lunchtime Concert programme is a regular Tuesday and Thursday concert series offering pupils the unique opportunity to share their music with a public audience and gain invaluable experience as performers. Held in the beautiful and historic Quilter Hall, our Prep School pupils are occasionally invited to participate in these events but this week they got to take over entirely: a true testament to the talent and hard work of our young musicians! Part of the afternoon’s programme was a showcase of both their technical skill and musical maturity, featuring a range of instruments and composers from Haydn to Bruch. Our Year 5 and 6 pupils performed with elegance, confidence and style. Highlights included excerpts from Haydn’s Violin Concerto in G, Beethoven’s Piano Sonata in A major, and Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 – each played with focus, sensitivity and flair.

It was particularly heartening to witness not only the individual excellence of each performer, but also the way in which they handled the nerves and pressures of live performance with such grace. Our sincere thanks go to the dedicated instrumental staff who guide and inspire our children, to our accompanists for their expert support, and most of all to the pupils themselves for their courage, energy and musicianship. We look forward to many more magical moments to come.
