Wells at Glastonbury Festival
Founded and run by OWs Michael and Emily Eavis, we are delighted to celebrate our School’s involvement in this year’s Glastonbury Festival.
The Jazz Disciples (members of our senior jazz combo) performed an energetic set on The Wishing Well Stage at Glastonbury Festival on Saturday evening. Fresh from the Jazz Picnic, Alex S, Charlie B, Charlie D (Upper Sixth) and Barnaby D (Lower Sixth) joined forces with Old Wellensian Holly R to play a 45 minute session of jazz, soul and funk music. The band drew a good sized crowd and demonstrated professionalism and musicality throughout. Many audience members were stunned to learn that they were still at school. Wells has a long standing association with Glastonbury Festival and we were delighted to be asked to perform by OW’s Emily and Michael Eavis!
Isaac S (Year 10) ably represented our Percussion Department and Henry G (Year 7) entered a drumming competition at Glastonbury Festival, judged by Gabi King who was the drummer with The 1975 the night before on the Pyramid Stage. Henry won the competition and will receive an electric drum set as his prize.
OW trombonist Emma Bassett (2009) performed on the Pyramid Stage with an outstanding band backing none other than singer-songwriter Raye.
Our musicians past and present certainly did the School proud!
