The critically acclaimed Wells Cathedral School Jazz Orchestra, directed by Edward Leaker, will perform a selection of jazz and swing big band classics by the likes of Count Basie, Buddy Rich, Stan Kenton and Duke Ellington as well as some modern and contemporary repertoire by the cutting edge big bands of today. The band will feature some outstanding young musicians from the DfE funded Specialist Music Scheme, many of whom are on the brink of leaving to take up places at music conservatoires across the UK and beyond. The band has been the training ground for some of the most talented young musicians in the UK who have gone on to achieve considerable success in the fields of jazz and commercial music. In recent years, they have collaborated with a long list of established jazz stars and also had a personal invitation from Michael Eavis to perform to 10,000 people at the Glastonbury Extravaganza!
