Regional Athletics Champions!
Congratulations to both Jasmine in Year 12 and Matthew in Year 11, who were both crowned regional champions at the South West Championships held in Exeter this weekend.
Both athletes were chosen to represent Somerset at the regional finals, having been crowned county champions in their disciples at the Somerset Athletics Track and Field Championships in May.
On Saturday, Jasmine competed in the 100m, coming second overall with a new PB of 12.34s, closely followed by a fantastic first place in her 200m with a PB of 25.08s. This makes her the quickest girl in the south west over the 200m!
Matthew also came away with a huge win in his 3000m with a PB of 9:05 mins, also making him a regional champion in his discipline!
Head of athletics, Samantha McGarry said, “This is a fantastic achievement for both students and the school should be very proud of them!”
