The Big Draw at Hauser and Wirth
On Thursday 10th October Year 10 artists attended the ‘Big Draw’ event at Hauser and Wirth, Bruton. An informative and interactive talk was given to pupils by the education team on the latest exhibition, ‘David Smith: Field Work’ – the Gallery’s debut solo exhibition by the eminent American artist. The exhibition has been conceived as four chapters of work spanning over three decades, from 1933 to 1964, that aim to demonstrate Smith’s diverse visual language and multifaceted creative process.
Wells pupils participated in a series of different practical workshops, experiencing a diverse range of materials and techniques in response to the exhibition. The Director of Education commented, “The work produced by Wells Cathedral School pupils is always excellent, but the work produced today is the best we have seen at this event for a long time.”
