Lower School Lockdown Monologue Project

Over the lockdown period, Drama and Theatre Studies teacher, Shelley Deans, undertook a creative monologue drama project throughout the months of Winter lockdown with pupils in Years 7 to 9 during their Drama lessons.

With an emphasis on performance and taking the work through from page to stage, pupils focused on original characterisation and creating a piece that allowed the observer an insight into a particular moment of that character’s world. Focus was also placed on creating the mood and tone of the piece and exploring different ways of filming that would further highlight or transmit the character’s situation or emotional state. An added challenge was filming at home with limited resources and technology!
