The Great Wells Cathedral School Christmas Write Off
Over the Christmas holidays and into the January lockdown, Senior School pupils were invited to submit a short story of around 500 words for the English Department’s fifth annual creative writing competition, ‘The Great Wells Cathedral School Christmas Write Off’. The title, of course, was ‘A Winter’s Tale’.
Congratulations to Upper Sixth pupil Oscar Howe, who won the Upper School prize, for the second consecutive year, with an extremely well-crafted and richly descriptive tale of a battle in the woods.
Also, to Ferdy Willis in Year 7, who won the Lower School prize with his poignant story of Irene Winter, waiting in her rocking chair.
And to Buck Williams in Year 9, runner up, with a dystopian tale of Ice Age life after the Johnson Government has ‘long gone’.
Well done and thank you to everyone who took part.
