Silver Duke of Edinburgh Qualifying Expeditions
A large group of Year 11 and Lower Sixth pupils undertook their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award Qualifying Expedition over the weekend, whilst a Year 10 group completed their Silver Practice Expedition.
The pupils left Wells on Friday morning and spent the weekend hiking and camping on the beautiful Mendip Hills in glorious sunshine before returning to School on Sunday afternoon.
The groups enjoyed the first 36 hours in beautiful weather, but awoke in a rain cloud on Sunday morning and had to navigate in fog on the final day, which they managed superbly.
Director of Outdoor Learning, Stuart Elks, said, “It was a great effort all round, particularly after such a long period of remote learning. Congratulations to all the pupils involved and a huge thank you to the Wells team of staff for their support!”
