Wells Cathedral School WCS Independent School Somerset Hockey Successes

Hockey Successes

We have had a fantastic start to the boys’ hockey season, which has seen numerous team and individual successes. The boys 1st XI are showing that they are clearly a very competitive side on the circuit in which they play and are currently in round 3 of the England Hockey cup where they will play Marlborough College on Tuesday. In the first two rounds they have convincingly beaten Clayesmore 8-2 and Bryanston 10-3. The senior boys are currently playing an exciting brand of hockey, and we are fortunate to have a group of outstanding hockey players in the senior sides who are achieving a lot both in and outside of school with their hockey.

The U14 boys joined the U14 girls as T2 County Champs having won the competition on Tuesday in Taunton. The boys worked well as a team and played some exciting hockey throughout the day, enabling them to secure three excellent wins. They now progress through to regional finals in early March.

It has been fantastic to see the sides across the Senior School working on their attacking and defensive principles in their training sessions, and it is great to see them showing these skills in fixtures against other schools. Well done, boys!
