DofE Pupils Join HM Lord-Lieutenant Of Somerset On Jubilee Jaunt

Twenty of our pupils participating in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme walked 10 miles from Clevedon Pier to the Grand Pier in Weston-Super-Mare alongside HM Lord-Lieutenant Mrs Annie Maw as part of her Somerset Jubilee Jaunt, a journey of 70 miles to mark 70 years in honour of Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Setting off promptly after 9:30am along the Somerset Coast Path, the group were participating in the fourth leg of The Lord-Lieutenant’s journey. Mrs Maw has lived in Somerset since 1973 and became HM Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset in 2015 after considerable involvement in charitable movements and activities. The weather was set fair for their walk with neither blistering sunshine nor a cold wind and the group were able to enjoy spectacular views along the Somerset coastline, even stopping for lunch alongside the River Yeo. By 3:30pm they had reached their destination and were able to enjoy some well-earned cake at the Grand Pier.

Well done to everyone involved, you have made the School proud.

Join us at our Open Day on Saturday 5th October and see why so many people find Wells such a special place!
