Mike Rennie Art Workshop
On Thursday 29th September, local artist, Mike Rennie, led a practical Art workshop with Lower Sixth Fine Art pupils, focusing on experimental drawing, collage and assemblage.
Mike, who had an exhibition of work in the John Baxter Foyer of Cedars Hall, enhanced pupils’ understanding of the connection between two dimensional drawings and three dimensional form whilst also encouraging them to recognise the aesthetic qualities inherent in everyday objects and mechanical forms. Pupils also had the opportunity to discuss Mike’s work with him, first hand, and gain valuable insights into the study of Art and Design at Foundation level, with Mike having been the course leader of Art and Design Foundation Studies at Wiltshire College from 1976-2002 and awarded the Commonwealth Art Prize in 2020.
