Year 3 Rocks and Fossils workshop
Pupils in Year 3 have kick-started their new Science topic, Rocks and Fossils, with a fantastic workshop provided by the South West Heritage Trust.
The wonderful workshop leader told the children all about the young fossil hunter, Mary Anning, and brought with her a vast collection of rocks and incredible fossils for the children to study. Throughout the morning, the children learned how to classify different rocks, took fossil rubbings and handled real 350 million year old ammonite fossils. They all took a shine to the huge chunks of pyrite, otherwise known as Fool’s Gold!
