Chess Club receives a distinguished guest
On Friday 28th April our Senior School Chess Club received a visit from Oleksandr Matlak, a professional chess coach who has recently moved to Wells from Ukraine.
He wowed the pupils with some incredible displays of skill, including a blindfold game where he wasn’t allowed to look at the board, and a simultaneous exhibition where he played several games at the same time.
It was wonderful to host someone with such deep knowledge of the game, and he imparted a lot of wisdom to the pupils along the way.
He is organising a local tournament for young chess players, so watch this space!
