Year 9 trip to SS Great Britain
A group of 60 pupils in Year 9 travelled to Bristol to visit the SS Great Britain on Tuesday 16th May.
They went on a guided tour of the ship which included opportunities to swab the deck, sit in the 1st class dining room and experience how small and cramped it was (despite being the biggest ship in the world at the time!)
They also went around the Drydock Museum, which includes old artefacts such as ship masts and the story in pictures of the return of the SS Great Britain from the Falklands as a floating wreck followed by her restoration, as well as seeing the hull of the ship. Furthermore, the group visited the Brunel Museum to learn about the life and achievements of Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
It was a fantastic day!
