Year 9 trip to the Somerset Earth Science Centre
Year 9 Geographers recently visited the Somerset Earth Science Centre at Moon’s Hill Quarry. Their studies focused on the workings of an active quarry in the context of the wider quarrying industry in the Mendips and the uses of limestone in particular. They visited the Quarry itself to see its operation and the volcanic rocks that are being extracted, and followed it up with a practical exercise on quarry restoration.
