Year 3 Historians enter the Iron Age

Year 3 have travelled from the Bronze Age into the Iron Age in History and have enjoyed exploring what life was like for the Celts, living in Britain around 2,500 years ago.

The children imagined that they were Iron Age tribe leaders looking to create a new hillfort. After researching Maiden Castle, they designed their own settlement, complete with ramparts, roundhouses, grain storage and even heads on sticks to warn enemy tribes away! They then thought about what it would be like to be a child living in a hillfort during the Iron Age and wrote diary entries detailing what they would have got up to; sling shot practice, feeding livestock, weaving, cooking, cleaning and mining for iron ore replaced School lessons, sports clubs, reading and television!
