U15 Boys’ Cricket Devon tour

Our U15 Boys had a brilliant time touring North Devon during the half Term break.

Travelling down on the first day, the squad stopped to play West Buckland School. Everyone contributed to a convincing win; very good innings from Ethan (Year 10) and Zak (Year 9) saw Wells chase down 110 comfortably. Rewarded with a lovely evening meal, everyone settled in for the night at the accommodation.

The following day, the boys took part in various activities including a water assault course, climbing and high ropes before watching some local club cricket on the beach with a barbecue. The day was topped off with a trip to the driving range and plenty of pizza.

On the third day, the boys enjoyed another win against North Devon CC. Ethan’s was a very mature and well built innings of 62*, and Zak reached his half century in just 23 balls, leading the Wells total to 207 at the end of our 30 overs before bowling the opposition out for 104. The evening was spent exploring, eating ice cream and playing yet more cricket.

The final day was weather-affected, but nonetheless the boys travelled back to Somerset for a training session at Taunton Deane CC in the morning and watched the Somerset CCC 2nd XI play Gloucestershire in a T20, even getting the opportunity to meet some of the professional players.

With so much playing and watching, the tour was a great learning experience for our young cricketers.
