Ariane’s sporting successes
In July, Ariane L-J (Year 9) received a wild card invitation to the International Taekwon-Do Federation European Championships at Cardiff National Sports Centre, where she was one of only two competitors who went solo and not part of an ITF national team. It was her first competition with a continuous sparring format, and she was allocated a neutral coach to support her ringside. She won gold in the individual U14 competition for senior colour belts, beating a girl from Germany in the semi-final and then a girl from Ireland in the two-round final. She won by knock-out with 17 seconds remaining on the clock!
Ariane continued her winning streak at the Tae Kwon-Do Association of Great Britain (TAGB) Scottish Open Championships, winning gold in both the U16 individual and team sparring events for her belt category.
She has also been selected to represent the U14 Team Bath regional Netball squad to top off a memorable summer.
