Netball trip report – Barton Hall PGL

Mrs Williams and Miss Burgess write the following on our Netball trip to Barton Hall PGL:

Our recent Netball trip to Barton Hall PGL was a fantastic experience from start to finish, filled with competitive sport, exciting activities, and plenty of memorable moments. We travelled down on Friday and were warmly welcomed by our host, Izzy, who quickly helped everyone settle into their rooms before giving us a tour of the site. That evening, the girls took part in a fun and energetic activity called Balloon Splash. Working in teams, they competed in a variety of challenges before the grand finale—protecting a water balloon dropped from a height. The activity ended with a lively water balloon fight, with everyone fully involved and enjoying themselves in great spirits. Saturday morning brought an exciting block of Netball fixtures. The squad was split into two teams, and across the matches we secured four wins, one draw, and a couple of losses. It was a highly competitive and enjoyable morning, with the girls showing determination and teamwork throughout. In the afternoon, the girls had the opportunity to take part in a range of adventurous activities, including the zip wire, giant swing, vertical climb, rifle shooting, and trapeze, among others. These challenges pushed many out of their comfort zones and were a highlight of the weekend. The day finished with an evening session of archery tag, leaving everyone happily exhausted. Our final day included more Netball fixtures, where the girls continued to compete brilliantly, securing one win, one draw, and a loss. After packing up their rooms, they then had the opportunity to take part in more adventurous activities, including aeroball, climbing, and abseiling. Following all of our matches, we were delighted to discover that we had progressed to the semi-finals. The excitement was clear, and it was fantastic to see every player take to the court. In a closely contested match, we narrowly lost to RTS A team by just one goal—a brilliant effort from all involved.

Overall, the weekend was a huge success. The girls showcased excellent Netball, strengthened their bonds as a team, and shared plenty of laughter along the way. We were incredibly proud of their attitude, effort, and sportsmanship throughout, and we hope they all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
