Drum Kit Day

Sunday 24th September 2017, 9.30am - 4.30pm

Overview

Open to all levels of players and teachers, this is a fantastic opportunity for all kit players to enjoy an inspirational day in our new state-of the-art concert venue, Cedars Hall. The day will include:

  • Workshops with a small professional combo
  • Tips on maximising your practice, motivation and performance
  • Life as a working drummer
  • Styles, notation and techniques including the Trinity graded exams and the Tommy Igoe Groove Essentials book one and two
  • Perform alongside a professional guitarist and bass player!
  • Ev-entz trade stand for instruments and accessories

Refreshments will be provided throughout the day, but please bring a packed lunch.

About the Tutoring Team

Andrew Tween

A post-graduate from the Guildhall School of Music, Andrew is a freelance drummer, TV soundtrack composer and a drum kit teacher at Wells Cathedral School. He has performed with many artists including Pee Wee Ellis, Seth Lakeman, PP Arnold, Art Themin, Elliot Randall. He has also toured with the highly acclaimed dance show Midnight Tango starring Strictly Come Dancing stars Vincent and Flavia.

Jerry Crozier-Cole
Jerry Crozier-Cole

Jerry is a freelance session guitarist and teacher of jazz guitar at Bristol University and a number of schools including Wells Cathedral School. He has played with the The Proclaimers, Ronan Keating, Elliott Randall, Ruby Turner, Pee Wee Ellis, Fred Wesley and many others. Jerry has also released two guitar teaching apps: Jerry’s Guitar and Jerry’s Jazz Guitar.

Jon Whitfield

Jon Whitfield studied at Leeds College of Music where he was awarded a 1st class degree. He has played with Jim Mullen, Alan Barnes, Peter King and has toured Europe and the USA. Jon has been teaching at Wells Cathedral School for the past six years and currently works with Brass Junkies and Colman Brothers.

Jeff Spencer

Jeff Spencer is a bass guitarist, pianist and composer. He has played with Elliott Randall, Pee Wee Ellis, Hélélé and his own jazz big band Crocodile. He studied classical composition with Roger Redgate at Goldsmiths and now teaches music at Churchill Academy.
