Jamie Walton, Cellist

Jamie is one of the most outstanding cellists of his generation. He recorded the Dvorak and Schumann concertos with the Philharmonia and Vladimir Ashkenazy. Released in 2012, it completes a 10 concerto project with the Philharmonia which has won him international acclaim. Jamie is a graduate of Wells Cathedral School and the Royal Northern College of Music. Calling the Yorkshire Moors his spiritual home, Jamie launched the North York Moors Chamber Music Festival – shortlisted this year for the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society Award. Jamie performs on a 1712 Guarneri and is renowned for his purity of tone, emotionally engaging interpretations and relentless commitment to the music he believes in. ;
