Wells percussionists took part in a fabulous collaboration with Old Wellensian Dave Smith and his energetic band Fofoulah on Saturday evening in Cedars Hall.
Dave Smith is one of the UK’s great drums pioneers, who plays with Robert Plant’s Sensational Space Shifters and Juju. With Fofoulah he matches African rhythms against a range of styles from rap to dance. Described in The Guardian as, “A bravely adventurous fusion band”, Fofoulah includes talking-drums expert Kaw-Secka and Batch Gueye with his chanting African vocals. The Wells musicians enjoyed the wonderful opportunity to perform with such a vibrant band; with Jayne Obradovic, Head of Student Experience saying, “What an amazing concert – one of our very best! Thanks to all for making it happen.”
