International Chamber Music Summer School

Sunday 11th August to Saturday 17th August 2024

This course is designed for students aged 12 to 18 who wish to focus on the intensive study of chamber music. Players can enrol as pre-formed groups or as individuals to be formed into ensembles. Aside from rehearsals and coaching from the distinguished team of tutors from Wells Cathedral School, there will be workshops and informal performance opportunities, and the course will culminate in a concert that is open to family and friends.

This course is designed for experienced ensemble players who have the desire to work at a high level. If you have any questions about the level of playing required or are not already known to the team of tutors, please contact us to determine eligibility by completing the form below or by emailing details of your musical history to Simon Smith: [email protected]

Musical Opportunities

There will be multiple opportunities to perform regardless of your skill level, culminating in a concert on Saturday afternoon that is open to family and friends.

Whilst we encourage everyone to take part in all performances and activities, we will not force anyone to participate if they don’t want to do so for whatever reason. However, we hope our friendly and accepting community will lead all musicians to take part, even if it is slightly outside of their normal comfort zone!

Other Activities

Even professional musicians need a break from their instruments! With Wells Cathedral School’s outstanding facilities, you’ll have a range of activities to enjoy when you’re not making music…

About our Course Tutors

Course tutors will generally be either full- or part-time teaching staff of Wells Cathedral School, a government-recognised specialist music school that is known for its quality teaching and musical opportunities for pre-professional musicians. However, should our staff be unavailable for our string summer school, we will appoint music teachers of a comparable calibre to teach courses.
