During our Viola Day, you will:

  • take part in workshops and ensembles
  • enjoy masterclasses led by specialist viola tutor Alex Thorndike
  • meet instrument maker Tony Padday
  • play in Cedars Hall, our state-of-the-art performance venue

About Alex Thorndike

Alex currently divides his time between performing as Assistant Principal Viola of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and teaching, both at Wells Cathedral School and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. He previously played for the Halle Orchestra before moving to his present position. Alex has a long proven record of teaching success and aims to get the best out of all his pupils.
