Over 50 CCF cadets from Wells took part in the city’s Remembrance Day Parade on Sunday, led by Year 11 student Polly carrying the school mace and supported by the school drum corps. 35 musicians enjoyed a lively Drum Kit Day in Cedars Hall on Sunday, led by drum kit teacher and professional musician Andy Tween, with percussion teacher Jon Whitfield and a professional combo. Manchester International Piano Concerto Competition Semi-Finals

Congratulations to Year 12 student Nick who has reached the semi-finals of the Manchester International Piano Concerto Competition. 78 pianists from 23 countries entered the event and the remaining 20 will compete again at Chetham’s in August. Farleigh Prep School Outreach Visit

The 6-piece Jazz Combo had a productive visit to Farleigh Prep School, near Andover last week. The sessions commenced with a workshop for a group of 20 children, which quickly led to an improvisation lesson and demonstration from Ed Leaker, head of woodwind, whilst the youngsters gamely tried out their solo improvisation skills. The four hour session ended with a finale concert to 25 Farleigh parents, who were very impressed with what their children had achieved.
